Eating Disorder Treatment
Dr. Kim Oliver and Dr. Randi Roth are certified to provide Mindfulness-Based Eating Awareness Training (MB-EAT), a treatment developed by Dr. Jean Kristeller and supported by National Institute of Health-funded research. The program addresses mindless and stress-related eating, disordered eating patterns, and binge eating disorder (BED).
MB-EAT teaches mindfulness meditation techniques and guided mindfulness practices designed to address the core issues of BED and like disorders. MB-EAT has been shown to help participants learn how to control responses to emotional states, make more conscious food choices, develop awareness of hunger and fullness cues and cultivate self-acceptance. Research also supports the value of MB-EAT in decreasing episodes of binging, improving a sense of self-control with regard to eating and reducing symptoms of depression. (Kristeller, J.L., Wolever, R.Q., 2011).
The group will also include a process oriented group therapy component. The program includes an initial assessment interview, ten weekly group sessions of 2 hours each and 2 follow-up sessions.
Please call for further information and to set up an initial assessment interview.
